    Josef Albers was an American artist and art teacher, originally from Germany.

    He focused on studying the essence of color and its impact on the viewer, and developed a theory of perception that greatly influenced the emergence of Op Art. Albers was born in Bottrop, Germany, into a family of craftsmen.

    From 1908 to 1913, he worked as a teacher at a public school in the Ruhr region.
